Spend a 1/2 day taking the "Beginner's Trip" and take the mystery out of fly fishing and get started in a sport you can enjoy for a lifetime.

Why fly fish on Lake George? I thought you fly fished in a stream......

For beginners and novices this fly fishing trip is ideal. Casting from our 20 ft. Flats Boat provides you with a stable, above the water platform. Unlike stream fishing, there are no trees or high banks to interfere with your back cast. Our program lets you learn how to handle the rod, manage the fishing line, and work on basic fly casting skills without the distractions you will find on the river. Consequently, when you go back to your favorite stream or go to one for the first time, you will have had lots of casting practice to improve your odds for catching fish on the river.

Itinerary:

7:00 am -We'll pick you up on shore and head for an island on Lake George for an hour-long, class room style session to review equipment (rods, reels, lines), knots, flies, as well as a general over view of the sport. (If you have your own gear, bring it and we will set it up for you.)

8:30 am -Casting Lesson covering:

- how to put the rod & reel together

- the grip

- roll cast

- forward cast

9:30 to 11:00- Let's go fishing! Try different rods, lines, flies, cast a bamboo rod, and if you're lucky - catch a fish!
